Multipoint locks and TS007 3 star cylinders for modern Bicester doors

We are a locksmith Bicester residents can call at any hour for lockouts, new build lock changes, uPVC and composite door repairs and car keys across OX26 and nearby OX25 villages. Daytime lockouts are £59 to £79, travel is usually £10, and we normally reach Bicester in 25 to 40 minutes from our base in North Oxford.

We quote the full price before setting off and open most doors without damage. Because most Bicester homes are modern, we carry the euro cylinders and multipoint parts they use. Our full list of towns is on the areas we cover page.

Bicester neighbourhoods and nearby villages we serve

Bicester has grown faster than almost anywhere in the county, and the town now spreads well beyond the old centre around Sheep Street and the Market Square. We cover all of it, along with the villages that ring the town.

If you are on the Kidlington side, around Weston-on-the-Green or Islip, our Kidlington and Islip locksmith page is the closer fit. Towards Thame and the Bucks border, see our Thame OX9 page.

From North Oxford to Bicester: route and timing

From 169 Woodstock Road we head to the Peartree interchange, take the A34 north to the M40 junction at Wendlebury, then follow the A41 past Bicester Village into town. That is roughly 13 miles, and a typical arrival is 25 to 40 minutes.

The slow spots are well known: the A34 at peak times, and the A41 around the Bicester Village roundabouts on weekends and in the run up to Christmas, when shopper traffic can back up for a long way. On those days we sometimes come in from the west side via the Kidlington road instead. Either way, we give you a time on the phone and call you if it changes.

Should you change the locks on a new build in Bicester?

Short answer: yes, and it is quick. Before you collect the keys to a new home in Kingsmere, Elmsbrook or Graven Hill, copies have usually passed through site managers, sales staff, cleaners and trades. Most builders fit a basic euro cylinder with no anti snap rating, and you have no way of knowing how many keys exist.

Kingsmere

A large modern estate to the south west of town. Mostly composite front doors with multipoint locks and euro cylinders, and uPVC back or patio doors. If one of those front doors stops locking, see composite door lock replacement.

Swap every euro cylinder for a TS007 3 star one on move-in day.

Elmsbrook

The eco town to the north west, built to high energy standards. Doors are well sealed, so a door that has moved even slightly can make the lock stiff.

New cylinders, plus a check that the door is hung and closing correctly.

Graven Hill

A large self build site on former MOD land, so almost every house has different doors, from timber to aluminium and smart locks.

Send us photos first so we can bring the right parts.

Langford Village and Bure Park

Estates from the 1980s and 1990s, where original uPVC doors are now reaching the age when gearboxes fail.

Often a multipoint lock replacement rather than a new door.

A cylinder change is £65 to £85 per door plus a lock from £25, with three keys included. Our euro cylinder replacement page explains sizing, and our anti snap lock upgrade service covers the TS007 3 star options.

Composite and uPVC door faults we fix in Bicester

With so many modern doors in town, most of our Bicester repair work is on multipoint locking systems. The good news is that a faulty door rarely needs replacing.

FaultWhat is usually wrongTypical cost
Handle must be lifted hard to lockDoor has dropped on its hinges£65 to £95 adjustment
Handle goes up but nothing locksBroken gearbox in the multipoint£85 to £125 plus mechanism
Handle floppy or looseWorn spring cassette or loose fixings£35 to £55
Key turns all the way roundBroken cylinder cam£65 to £85 plus cylinder

See our uPVC door lock replacement page for more on these faults. Many new build doors are still under the builder’s warranty, so check that before booking a repair.

Car lockouts at Bicester Village and the stations

Bicester Village draws shoppers from all over the country, and its car parks, along with those at Bicester Village and Bicester North stations, produce a steady flow of car calls. Keys locked in the boot with the shopping, a fob that has stopped working, or keys lost somewhere between the shops.

We open most cars without damage, from £85 in the day and from £130 at night, weekends and bank holidays. If the key is lost, we can usually cut and program a new one at the car, starting from £170 for all keys lost, once we have seen the V5C and your ID. Our keys locked in car service and car key replacement page explain what we need. Give us the car park name and the level or zone when you call.

Lettings, Bicester Heritage and local businesses

Bicester has a large rental market thanks to rail commuters to London and Oxford and staff at the military sites nearby. Landlords and agents use us between tenancies to change or rekey locks, with an itemised invoice for every job. Our article for landlords and letting agents covers move-in and move-out lock planning.

For businesses, from shops in the town centre to workshops at Bicester Heritage and units on the trading estates, we handle lockouts, commercial lock changes, door closers and fire exit hardware.

Why the price you are quoted is the price you pay

Fixed prices, agreed before we leave

We quote the job and the £10 Bicester travel on the phone. Prices include VAT and labour, and parts are listed separately. If we find something unexpected once we arrive, we stop and agree it with you before carrying on.

We are DBS checked, insured to £1 million, and we always ask for ID or proof of address before opening a home. Out of hours supplements on lock fitting are £20 after 8pm and £30 after 11pm, and we will tell you if waiting until morning would save you money.
