Repairs are no fix no fee

Sticking locks and dropped uPVC doors fixed from £55 before anything is replaced

We are a mobile locksmith for Eynsham and the OX29 villages, opening locked doors, repairing and changing locks and making car keys at any hour. A daytime lockout costs from £59, travel is usually £10, and from our North Oxford base we normally reach Eynsham in 20 to 30 minutes.

Every price is agreed on the phone before we set off. We use non destructive entry first, repair locks before replacing them, and give you an itemised invoice at the end. Neighbouring towns and villages are listed on our Oxfordshire coverage page.

Which OX29 villages do we cover around Eynsham?

OX29 is a scattered postcode. It wraps around Witney on three sides and takes in a string of villages between the A40 and the Thames. The places below are the ones we get called to most often from the Eynsham side.

EynshamFreelandLong HanboroughChurch HanboroughCassingtonStanton HarcourtSuttonStandlakeNorth Leigh

For Ducklington, Hailey and the villages that sit right on the edge of Witney, see our Witney OX28 locksmith page. North of the A4095, Bladon and Woodstock are covered on our Woodstock and Bladon page.

Our drive from Woodstock Road to Eynsham

Eynsham is one of the quickest out of town jobs we do. We leave 169 Woodstock Road, join the A40 at the Wolvercote roundabout, and head west past the Cassington turning. The whole trip is around six to eight miles depending on where in the village you are.

Most of the time we are with you in 20 to 30 minutes. The slow point is the A40 itself, which can back up from the Wolvercote and Cassington roundabouts in the morning and evening peaks. When that happens we tell you, rather than giving a time we cannot meet.

Stanton Harcourt and Standlake are a little further south and we reach them through the lanes below Eynsham. Calls from the Botley and Farmoor side often come across the Swinford toll bridge, which is a short hop over the Thames, and the Botley and Cumnor page covers that side of the river.

Old stone, post war estates and barn conversions

Eynsham has a proper old village core. Around the Market Square, Acre End Street and Mill Street you find stone cottages and townhouses with solid timber front doors, often secured with a rim nightlatch and sometimes nothing else. If your insurer asks for a British Standard lock, we fit a BS3621 five lever mortice deadlock to the existing door. Our rim lock and nightlatch page covers the latch side.

Spreading out from the centre are estates built from the 1960s onward, where most houses now have uPVC doors with multipoint locks. By now many of these mechanisms are twenty years old or more. The classic symptoms are a handle that has to be lifted hard before the key will turn, or a key that turns but leaves the hooks and bolts where they were.

Out in the hamlets around Stanton Harcourt, Sutton and Freeland, converted farm buildings bring their own mix: stable doors, French doors, bi-fold doors and outbuildings with padlocks and hasps. We repair or replace patio and French door locks and fit locks to outbuildings and garden gates.

How an Eynsham locksmith visit works

  1. Call or message

Ring 07520 644 595 or send a photo of the lock on WhatsApp. Tell us which village you are in, as OX29 is a big area.

  2. Fixed price

We quote the job, the £10 travel and any late night supplement. That is what you pay, unless you agree to extra work once we arrive.

  3. On the doorstep

We open the door with non destructive methods first, then check ID or a bill with the address.

  4. Repair or replace

If the lock can be repaired we repair it. If it cannot, we show you why and fit a new one from stock.

Lost keys between Long Hanborough station and home

Long Hanborough station is on the Cotswold Line, so plenty of residents from Freeland, Hanborough and Eynsham travel in and out by train or by bus along the A40. A good share of our calls in this area start with keys lost on a commute, at a pub, or on a walk along the Thames path.

If your keys went missing along with anything showing your address, such as a wallet with a driving licence, treat the locks as compromised. Our lost keys service gets you in and then makes the old keys useless, either with new cylinders or by rekeying the existing locks. It costs £75 to £125 plus the locks. If only the keys are lost and nothing identifies your home, a simple rekey of each lock is often enough.

Our guide on why people get locked out has simple ways to cut the risk next time.

Night callouts to the villages: helping us find you

Eynsham has street lights and house numbers, but many addresses around Sutton, Stanton Harcourt and the farms off the Hanborough road do not. A cottage name on a dark lane is hard to spot at midnight, and every wrong turn adds minutes while you wait outside.

When you call after dark, give us the postcode plus one landmark, such as the church, the pub, a farm entrance or the turning you are nearest. If you can, stand where a car’s lights will pick you up, or leave a phone torch switched on. If you are somewhere without signal, tell us before the call drops where you will wait.

Late jobs follow the same pricing rules as daytime ones. Evening lockouts are £79 to £99, and lock fitting has a supplement of £20 after 8pm and £30 after 11pm, all quoted before we leave. If your door can wait until morning, we will tell you, and that is often the cheaper choice. For a lock that has failed and left the house insecure, we can make it safe overnight and come back to finish the job in daylight.

Checks we make before opening an Eynsham home

DBS checked and insured to £1 million

Our locksmith is DBS checked and carries £1 million public liability insurance. Before opening any home we ask for ID or a bill that shows the address. For businesses on the trading estates and farm units around the village, we confirm the caller has authority to let us in.

These checks take a minute. They are also the best test of any locksmith you call: one who will open a door without asking would open yours for a stranger. Our article on finding a reliable Oxfordshire locksmith lists other warning signs, such as prices that change on the doorstep.
