Dave Oxford Locksmith is a mobile locksmith and auto locksmith based at 169 Woodstock Road, Oxford OX2 7NA, working for households, businesses and drivers across Oxford and Oxfordshire 24 hours a day. We are DBS checked, insured to £1 million public liability, and we agree every price on the phone before the van moves.

This page explains who we are, the rules we work by and the checks we carry out, so you know what to expect before you let a locksmith into your home or car.

Who Dave Oxford Locksmith is

We are a local locksmith with our own number, 07520 644 595, rather than a national booking line that sells jobs on to whoever is free. The price and arrival time you are given on that call come from the business that will do the work, based on where the van is and what stock it carries.

The work covers the whole range of lock problems: lockouts, lock changes and repairs, uPVC mechanisms, anti-snap upgrades, window, patio and garage locks, safes, business hardware and car keys made at the roadside. You can see the complete list on our Oxford locksmith services page.

Why a North Oxford base matters

Being on the Woodstock Road puts Summertown, Jericho and Wolvercote a few minutes away and the northern ring road close by. From there the A34, A40 and A44 lead out to the rest of the county, which is why city jobs are usually reached in 10 to 30 minutes.

It also means we know the local stock: painted timber doors with nightlatches in the Victorian streets of North Oxford, shared student houses in East Oxford and Cowley, and the composite doors on newer estates further out. The towns we travel to, with charges and times, are on the areas we cover page.

The rules we work by

  1. Price before travel

A fixed price agreed on the phone. It does not change on the doorstep, and if something unexpected turns up we stop and agree it with you first.

  2. Damage only as a last resort

Non-destructive entry is tried first. Drilling happens only after we have explained why and what it will cost.

  3. Repair before replace

If a lock can be fixed or a door adjusted, we will not sell you new hardware. Lock repairs are no fix, no fee.

  4. Clear invoices

Prices include VAT and labour, parts are listed separately, and every job gets an itemised invoice for landlords and insurers.

Homes, businesses and drivers we look after

Households and tenants

Lockouts, new locks after a move, stiff keys, dropped uPVC doors and security upgrades such as anti-snap cylinders before an insurance renewal.

Landlords and letting agents

Lock changes between tenancies, rekeys for shared houses and attendance on possession days through our eviction lock change service, with invoices that show each lock.

Shops and offices

Shopfront and shutter locks, fire exit hardware, door closers and master key systems through our commercial locksmith work.

Drivers

Keys locked in the car, spare keys copied from a working one and replacement keys when every key is lost, made at the vehicle wherever it is parked.

Why we ask for ID, a logbook or proof of ownership

We check before we open anything

We ask for ID or proof of address before opening a home, the V5C logbook and ID before making a car key, authority to enter for business premises, and proof of ownership for safes, padlocks and bikes. A locksmith who skips these checks would open the same door for a stranger.

If your ID is locked inside, that is normal. We open the door and you show us a document, a letter or a utility bill once inside. For cars, see what we need on our car key replacement page.

What we will and will not tell you

You will not find invented review counts, trade badges we do not hold or a made-up founding date on this site. What we can state is simple: DBS checked, insured to £1 million, a 24 hour service, a real address on the Woodstock Road and published prices on our locksmith price list.

If you want to compare us with other firms, our guide on finding a reliable locksmith in Oxfordshire lists the questions worth asking anyone, including us. More of our writing is in the locksmith advice section.
