Peugeot key replacement in Oxford is carried out at your car, with a spare copied from a working key from £90, a remote flip key from £120, a keyless key from £160 and a full replacement when every key is lost from £170. Worn 208 and 2008 fobs are a familiar sight, so we test the old key before selling you a new one. Prices are fixed on the phone, and in the city we usually arrive within 10 to 30 minutes. Bring your V5C logbook and photo ID; we check both before cutting anything.

Peugeot key fob faults we fix most often

Peugeot fobs tend to wear out mechanically long before the electronics inside them give up. Before you pay for a replacement Peugeot key, match the fault to the table below.

On many older Peugeots, a remote that stops after a battery swap only needs resyncing; the handbook method on several models is to switch the ignition on and press the lock button within a few seconds. If that does not bring it back, we can code it with our car key programming equipment.

The Peugeot confidential code card: find it before you need it

Many Peugeots of the 2000s and early 2010s were sold with a confidential card: a credit card sized slip with a scratch-off panel. Under the panel sits an access code for the immobiliser. On those models, anyone adding a key needs that code, and when the card is missing it has to be recovered another way.

If you have the card, keep it at home, not in the glovebox, and never on the key ring. If you bought the car second hand, look in the service book wallet, where it often still sits. If it is long gone, mention it on the phone. Our equipment can recover the code on most models, though it can add time to the job.

Newer Peugeots manage key security through the car’s central computer and the manufacturer’s online systems instead. That is one reason a few of the latest models still need a Peugeot dealer.

Peugeot keys by model, from the 107 to the latest 3008

107 and 108

These little city cars were built in the Czech Republic in the same factory as the Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1. Their keys follow the Toyota design rather than the usual Peugeot one, which changes the blank and the programming route.

206, 207 and 307

The models that made Peugeot a common sight on British roads. Most use a flip key or a remote key with a fixed blade, and this is the era where the code card matters most. The blade profile changed during these years, so the registration tells us which one to cut.

208 and 2008 (2012 to 2019)

A three-button flip key is standard. The housing is the weak point: a cracked case with healthy electronics can often be re-cased instead of replaced, which saves you the programming cost.

New 208, 2008, 308, 3008 and 5008

From around 2016 on the 3008 and 5008, and 2019 on the 208 and 2008, higher trims gained hands-free entry and push button start. Lower trims usually kept a flip key. Hands-free keys cost more and carry more security, so we check carefully by registration.

Partner, Rifter, Expert and Boxer

Mostly flip or remote keys. For many owners the van is their income, so we aim to get it moving the same day and suggest a second key for each driver while the van is in programming mode.

How we replace a lost Peugeot key at the car

  1. Check by registration

We confirm the key type, the blade profile and whether your Peugeot needs the code card, then fix the price.

  2. Prove it is your Peugeot

V5C and photo ID at the car, with the VIN on the windscreen compared against the logbook.

  3. Cut and code

The blade is cut to suit the car’s locks, and the transponder or hands-free key is added through the diagnostic port.

  4. Erase and test

Missing keys are removed from memory. We test starting, central locking, boot release and remote range before you pay.

Is a Peugeot dealer ever the better option?

Sometimes. A brand-new Peugeot, a car with a fault in its central computer, or a model whose security independent equipment does not yet support may need the dealer. We tell you that on the phone rather than after a wasted trip.

For most Peugeots in Oxfordshire, though, the dealer route means arranging a tow when no keys are left and waiting while a key is ordered. We come to you in Cowley, Abingdon, Kidlington or out to Thame, with the price agreed first. Travel is free within 5 miles of central Oxford, £10 up to 15 miles and £20 up to 25. Full figures are on our price list, and every make we cover is on the car key replacement Oxford page.

Keys locked inside the car rather than lost? Our car lockout service opens Peugeots without damage from £85 during the day.

Peugeot car keys Questions

A spare from a working Peugeot key starts at £90, a flip or remote key at £120, a hands-free key at £160 and all keys lost at £170. Prices include VAT and labour. We confirm the figure for your model by registration before travelling.
On most models, yes. Our equipment can recover the immobiliser access code when the confidential card is lost, though it can add time. Tell us on the phone whether you have the card, and we will price the job accordingly.
On many older Peugeots the remote loses its sync with the car. The handbook resync is usually ignition on, then press lock within a few seconds. If that fails, or the new battery is the wrong type, we can test and reprogram it from £55.
Often, yes. If the circuit board and chip are healthy, moving them into a new shell avoids programming. If the board is damaged too, a new flip key coded to your 208 starts from £120. We test the old key before recommending either.
Yes. We cut and code van keys on site, at yards, building sites and driveways, and can add a key for each driver during the same visit. Company or lease vans need a letter of authority alongside your ID.
Yes. With a working key present, a spare costs from £90 and is added to the immobiliser at the car. It is far cheaper than an all keys lost job later. Our spare car keys page explains the process.
